Welcome, my name is Misty Edomwande, the founder and owner of Black Moms of Dallas. I am a lover of Christ, A wife, and blessed to call myself a mother. I was inclined to start this community shortly after the devastating death of George Floyd; a very dark, scary, and uncertain time for Black America. I was in desperate need of a safe space to openly express myself as a black mother and wife; I needed community, support, empathy, and understanding. I also saw that need within my community of Black women. That is when I created a Black Moms of Dallas, Facebook group.
Over time, Black Moms of Dallas grew and the need for community went beyond validating one another and connecting online. We began to connect at in-person events, set up playdates, support each other's businesses, encourage each other through prayer, assist each other in childcare, and more. I could have never dreamed of the community that Black Moms of Dallas would blossom into. My passion to do more for my community has grown substantially. What started as a Facebook group is now an organization looking to connect, support, and advocate for Black families all throughout DFW. So welcome! I hope that you love it here.
